“Today is the first day of the rest of your life!”
I don’t know who is credited for originally saying this, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that it was someone at least fifty years old. In our American culture, there is a high value and attention given to the younger generation which is very understandable, but it can leave those in the 50+ range with the feeling that their best days are behind them. The force of that opening statement, then, would certainly be an encouraging word to any who might be tempted to think this way. The 50 Yard Line ministry endeavors to compliment the overall ministry of the Journey Church, which seeks to provide for all age brackets, opportunities for close connection with others, vital worship, and meaningful sense of purpose and service. To help accomplish this our Connection group meets twice a month to enjoy friendship, food, and the sharing of life experiences in a Biblical context. In addition to these scheduled times together, we look for other enjoyable things to do and places to go - adventure is a great thing! Last but not least, the 50 Yard Line will be looking for ways to serve our community and those in need.
I invite you to come join us. We would enjoy meeting you. In closing, let me encourage you with another phrase that Nancy and I say often to each other with a smile,
“The best is yet to come!.”
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
